State Representative Mark Mustio represents over 60,000 residents of Western Allegheny County.  Since he was first elected in a special election on June 17, 2003, Mark has never lost sight of the issues important to the citizens of the Airport Corridor and the Ohio Valley communities.  He continues to be a strong advocate for this group of hard-working Pennsylvanians.

For the 2011-12 session, Mark has been appointed to serve on the following House committees: Appropriations, Committee on Committees, Liquor Control, Professional Licensure, Rules and State Government.

Representative Mustio's legislative agenda has been, and will continue, to focus on improving the overall quality of life for the families who live in the communities he serves.  Logically recognizing that job creation and sustained economic growth are neither Republican or Democrat issues, his dedication and leadership has enabled him to bring home more than $17 million in state funding to fund several critical job-creating and infrastructure projects, including:
  • $7 million to open 1,500 acres of land for development and job creation near the Findlay Connector.
  • $5 million for the development of the Clinton Business Park.
  • $2.8 million for the development of the Imperial Business Park.   The Imperial Business Park project alone is estimated to create at least 3,000 new jobs.
  • $800,000 to rehabilitate taxiways C, N, T and V at the Pittsburgh International Airport.
Representative Mustio also has played a pivotal role in emphasizing the importance of the Greater Pittsburgh area's military installations to the regional economy, as well as America's national defense, both before, during and after the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Process. His current efforts to relocate the Charles E. Kelly Commissary and Post Exchange to a new headquarters near the Pittsburgh International Airport offer further proof of his undiminished commitment to keeping job creation and economic progress in the 44th Legislative District moving forward.

A proud recipient of the Pittsburgh Airport Chamber’s 2006 Taxpayer Watchdog and 2006 Economic Development and Job Creation awards , Mark is one of the first members of the Pennsylvania House to officially call for individual member health care contributions and the complete elimination of all taxpayer-funded automobiles and cell phones -- which he has never taken and pledges never to accept.

Representative Mustio graduated from Moon Area School District in 1975 and Grove City College in 1979 with a degree in business administration.  He became a casualty underwriter with Aetna from 1979-1981.  Mark is the president of Hicks Heim Mustio and a partner in HHM Financial Services and HHM Benefits and has been with the firm since leaving Aetna in 1981.  He has his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations.

He had the honor of serving the community previously as a Moon Township supervisor, past chairman of the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce, and served on the boards of the Western Area YMCA, Moon Area Excellence in Education and the Airport Corridor Transportation Association.
